The average Wake County home sale is $466,992, up 2.0% over the past year, with homes spending 29 days on the market before closing.

For the 12-month period spanning April 2024 through March 2025, under-contract sales in the MLS service area were up 4.8% overall. The price range with the largest gain was $245,000 to $344,999, where sales increased 9.3%. Market-wide inventory levels were up 42.4%.

Interest Rate Updates

Barring another massive catastrophe, flirting with the 6% mark is feasible if the United States manages to tame inflation and lenders feel confident in the economic outlook. Rates took a slight dip at the end of February, moving closer to the 6.5% mark than they had been for some time. As of publication, the 30-year fixed rate was around 6.625%.

While experts agree we are unlikely to see dramatically low rates in the 2% to 3% range again, rates around 7% are not abnormally high when viewed over the long term.

Store Leftover Paint in Mason Jars

• You will always get a great seal, and the rim and lid are easy to clean.
• This method dramatically reduces storage space.
• Pick up an extra printed label from the paint store to identify each color.
• The same storage method can be used for materials such as grout.

Unused paint should always be kept in a cool, dry environment. Closets and cabinets work well. Pro tip: leave each paint jar in a closet or cabinet in the room where that color belongs.
