Clever Home, Clever Idea: Rechargeable Light Bulbs

Four-pack of rechargeable LED emergency light bulbs

A few weeks ago, a storm rolled through Raleigh and knocked out my power for a few hours. That is when I realized I wish I had known about rechargeable light bulbs. Instead of fumbling with flashlights and lighting candles like it was the 1800s, I could have had a room fully lit just like normal.

The Neporal rechargeable light bulb functions like a regular LED bulb during everyday use but charges itself while in the socket. When the power goes out, it automatically switches to battery mode and stays lit as long as the light switch is on.

These bulbs are also useful for camping, roadside emergencies, garages, sheds, RVs, and other places without consistent access to power. Each bulb includes a portable hook, allowing it to hang and function like a lantern without a lamp or socket.

Each bulb provides bright 6000K white light at 750 lumens while using only 15 watts, comparable to an 80-watt traditional bulb. To maintain battery health, recharge it at least every 60 days by screwing it into a standard socket and turning it on. The bulbs are not compatible with dimmer switches. At publication, a four-pack cost about $27 on Amazon - a small investment in everyday convenience and emergency peace of mind.
